Founded in 1904, Whitney Brothers invented wood furniture for Early Learning and Institutional Childcare and pioneered its commercial distribution through educational distributors and dealers in schools, childcare centers, Head Start facilities, churches, libraries, museums, and residential homes throughout North and South America, the UK and Europe. Our rich 111-year heritage blends old world craftsmanship with state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing technology to create award-winning products of uncompromising quality, design, safety, durability and value. Every product we manufacture is UL GREENGUARD® Gold Certified, qualifies for LEED credits, meets or exceeds CPSIA, ASTM and BIFMA requirements, carries a Limited Lifetime Warranty, and is proudly made in America.
The materials we use are solid hardwoods and solid plywood laminates sourced from responsibly managed sustainable forests. Our manufacturing techniques achieve smooth, rounded edges, employ the strongest woodworking joints (dowel and glue, screws), and are finished by hand. We design extra wide spaces between doors and frames and use full length continuous hinges to prevent little fingers from getting pinched. All knobs, handles, hooks, magnets and moving parts are tested to ensure they are smooth, rounded, and firmly attached to prevent breaking free under rigorous use. Our state-of-the-art finishes are safe, non-toxic, durable and meet the most stringent safety requirements.
